Education Access and Equity

Education Access and Equity

Empowering Indigenous Youth Through Inclusive Learning Opportunities. At TIPD Kenya, we believe that education is a fundamental human right and a powerful tool for breaking cycles of poverty, marginalization, and inequality.

Yet,
for many children and youth in Turkana County — especially girls, children with disabilities, and those from nomadic pastoralist backgrounds — access to quality education remains a distant dream. Our Education Access and Equity program is designed to close this gap.

We champion inclusive, culturally relevant, and accessible education systems that reflect the needs of Indigenous communities.

What We Do.

Strengthen Community Education
We collaborate with schools, parents, and local leaders to improve infrastructure, increase enrollment, and reduce dropout rates—especially for girls and marginalized youth. Support School Retention
Through bursaries, uniforms, mentorship, and learning materials, we help learners from vulnerable backgrounds stay in school and succeed. Promote Girls' Education
We address cultural and systemic barriers that hinder girls’ education, including early marriage, gender-based violence, and lack of menstrual hygiene facilities. Indigenous Knowledge Integration
We advocate for the inclusion of Indigenous languages and cultural knowledge in school curricula, creating a learning environment that values local identity and heritage. Capacity Building
We provide training for teachers, school boards, and community education committees to promote equity, child protection, and learner-centered approaches.

Our Vision for the Future.

We envision a Turkana where every child—regardless of gender, location, or socio-economic background — has access to quality education that respects their culture and prepares them to thrive in a changing world.
